Mum’s & Kid’s Recovery Toolkit
This is an 9 week group programme for children who have witnessed domestic abuse, and are no longer living with the perpetrator. It is unique in its approach using a combination of psycho-education, trauma focused cognitive behaviour therapy and person–centered therapeutic principles. The overall aims of the programmes are to help children come to terms with their experiences, build confidence, self-esteem, make sense of the difficult emotions they may be feeling, and to develop positive lifestyle and coping strategies. Parents and children will take part in separate group sessions which will run concurrently with each other. The parent group will be facilitated by Freedom Project charity (Allens Croft Project). It is the first joint programme for women and their children in the whole of the West Midlands. It will be a great opportunity for healing together through activities, education and peer support.
